Flat White

Sometimes you are just in a bad mood.

Nothing seems to make a dent in it.  Nothing seems to lift you up.  Nothing can hoist you from the hole where you are sulking.

It’s on days like these that it seems that maybe a cute dog and a good coffee might lift you out of the pit.  Or perhaps I am just speaking for myself.

Arriving at Flat White, it had all the trappings of a hipster yet calming coffee place.  Plenty of wood.  A narrow row of seats opposite the coffee bar.  Distressed looking furniture.  It even had a dog.  A puppy sausage dog.  He proceeded to trot up and down the shop several times.  Stopping to sniff at people’s shoes before quickly continuing on his wayward journey.  Up and down the corridor.  Lifting my mood when he came by.  Good doggie.  That is until my coffee arrived.

White Americano.  Deep earthly flavour, good milk.  Although not my usual latte variety, it was a nice change.  My companion said that it was good coffee.  I’ll take her word for it.  Not because if I don’t there will be consequences to pay but because she does know her coffee.

Sometimes there is a rhyme and reason to trendy coffee shops.  Not only do they serve beverages to lift your day.  They may pick up your day too.  That was just what I needed this day.

A quiet eating 8/10.

A coffee was GBP3 excluding service.
