Le Chocolat Alain Ducasse
Simplicity is sometimes best.
Think of needlessly complicated seemingly endless stream of words used to embellish something. Then the disappointment when reality did not live up to expectations (whether food or dating). I think that often if the product is as good as people say, let that speak for itself. No need to pad things with unnecessary verbiage. That’s what you have AI for.
Although more than most people I probably enjoy a verbose, adjective filled descriptive, each word should still be there for a reason. This Alain Ducasse outpost had no such flowery language. Menu choices were simply pistachio, chocolate or hazelnut praline etc. You know what you are getting. I guess it benefitted from its location next to Borough Market – where self proclaimed foodies like to hang out and particular uproar resulted recently on account of a foodie blogger filming themselves and obstructing traffic. People are trying to make a living here, not by being famous for being famous!
Ice cream

Hazelnut praline with stracciatella. The hazelnut praline nutty fulsome flavour filled me with happiness. It was sweet without becoming cloying and nutty avoiding graininess. The stracciatella was delightfully cheesy, almost savory and very satisfyingly. Together these combined to make a great thing.
In these days when it is hard to find things which are worth what they cost, it is refreshing after a hard day’s work when a dessert delivers a just dessert.
Score
Icecream (2 scoops) was GBP6.50 excluding drinks and service.
A quiet eating 8/10.
