Coodies

I was drawn into this shop on a whim.  As much as I try not to be spontaneous (much to the annoyance of some), sometimes even I have to live a little dangerously.

So when a coffee shop offered “sweet mushroom” cookies in Peckham, I couldn’t but wonder what “mushrooms” these actually where.  Although I know that curiosity killed the cat, I couldn’t resist in this case, even with the rather full price tag.  Had to try these to find out.

The other choices were interesting too but budget conscious person that I am, only one would do in this case.  I’m sadly not made of money.  If I was, life would be good, if I wanted something I could just use a bit of myself to pay.  If this was the case, if done carefully I would hope that this would be a relatively painless process for me and things that would regrow like hair.  Otherwise, I would fairly quickly run out of appendages to offer in trade.

Sweet mushroom, cashnut cookie.  I use this as an excuse for my rather weird comments above.  This was sadly not the “magic” mushrooms I was hoping for but instead some strange chocolate mushrooms which combined savory and sweet in one, with a weird mushroom tang.

Latte.  I’ve had many lattes in my life.  Some good, some bad, some close to life changing for good or for bad.  This was sadly rather sapid.  It was lukewarm and nothing fairly interesting.  It tasted like warm tap water.

Although I had entered hoping for a bit of euphoria (or at least a kind of strange experience), instead I left with question marks spinning in my head.  The reviews of this place were rather glowing, some bordering on evangelistic.  In which case, maybe I got served the dud cookie as if I got the real stuff, I would be singing a different tune.

A quiet eating 6/10.

A coffee and cookie was GBP10 excluding service.
