On the second day of our Lisbon tour, we decided to do some sightseeing, always while keeping food in the top of our minds.

A pretty park in the middle of Lisbon..

If somewhat desolate in ways.

Estufa Fria – Parque Eduardo VII, 1070-051 Lisboa, Portugal. Although the botanical gardens, located in the park, made up for the lack of variety of shrubbery in other parts of the park.

As well as interesting land scaping.

It was also where I saw one of the tallest dogs I have seen. Or maybe it was a pony?

Museum Medeiros e Almeida – R. Rosa Araújo 41, 1250-165 Lisboa, Portugal. A private residence which has been converted into a musuem. Many interesting artifacts such as this clock were there.
" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://quieteating.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/D2_7668-960x640.jpg" />
And multiple pieces of hanging and not so hanging art work.

Petisco Saloio – Avenida Barbosa Du Bocage 38, 1000-072 Lisbon Portugal. Following our cultural tour, we were hungry. This was to be the best value meal in Lisbon by far. Everything here was included for the princely sum of EUR8.50 – a workman’s (and we saw many of these) lunch. First olives.

Bread. Decent.

My dining companion went for the cod. Interesting with its layers of potato, filling and tasty.

I went for the grilled chicken. A very generous portion and nicely charred but not too much.

Chips and rice. The rice, flavoured with butter was particularly smooth and filling. The potatoes were good too.

Fruit salad. Ok.

Cream with cookies. A bit too much cream for me.
" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://quieteating.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/D2_7702-960x640.jpg" />
Tea and a coke. Some great finishers.

Museu Nacional do Azulejo – R. Me. Deus 4, 1900-312 Lisboa, Portugal. Also known as the tile musuem where there are many many beautiful specimens on the same.

Draw with exquisite detail, this is the Naviety scene. The difficulty in creating art from tiles is that you can’t know what it will look like when it is fired and by then, its too late.

Although there were many beautiful tiles, someone has a sense of humour. As a bit of a joke, this is the chicken wedding. Have a close look and see if you can spot the chicken!

A view of Lisbon from days of old. Tastefully done in blue you can see the skyline as it was many years ago.
" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://quieteating.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/D2_7724-960x640.jpg" />
National Pantheon – Campo de Santa Clara, 1100-471 Lisboa, Portugal. Where you can get a great view of the city although there are many many stairs to the top.
" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://quieteating.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/D2_7729-960x1440.jpg" />
Inside there is also a very pretty nave.
" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://quieteating.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/D2_7730-960x1440.jpg" />
Striking pictures as seen from the top with buildlings in the background.

Cervejaria Ramiro – Avenida Alm. Reis 1, 1150-038 Lisboa, Portugal. Where tourists and locals alike go for their seafood fix. It is affordable, busy and has a great local atmosphere.

Prawns. Juicy, lightly steamed and delicious.
" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://quieteating.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/D2_7754-960x640.jpg" />
Oysters. Fresh and delicate.
" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://quieteating.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/D2_7758-960x640.jpg" />
Crab. Boiled and then also served in a tasteful sauce, great.
" data-image-caption="" data-large-file="https://quieteating.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/D2_7760-960x640.jpg" />
Prego. This is the beef tenderloin dessert. The finsher. I was dubious as to why we would want to finish on this note but now I know why. Finishing on this note of finality is the way to go.

Following this eating adventure, while taking the metro back, we stopped to look at the pretty murals.
